I posted this in my other thread, but I felt it deserved one of it's owned. Google just released this incredibly helpful tool for driving directions. You can drag and drop exactly what route you want to take, and it will alter the directions to accommodate it. Great for avoiding highways! And it actually works great. Check it out.

Great tip, thanks! I've been using google maps to piece together my non-highway routes, but it's been cumbersome and time consuming. This is going to make it a heck of a lot easier.

Cool! I've used waypoints (the technical term) before with a GPS system, but it was really clunky to add them. This "drag-n-drop" feature is something I've been looking for for years!

Yes!! We're trying to figure out the best way to get to this place in the Poconos for a family reunion at the end of July, w/o having to deal w/ semis flying past on the frwys (cause I'm still just a wee bit green for that shit). You just made it a lot easier...
