Way to get the people who actually do work on this, and have been for more than 5 years, to work with you.

Maybe I should have said the NYC scooter community. In any case there weren't any other scooterists there besides myself. Which is why I made the apathy comment.

For what it's worth, Philadelphia is instituting a new scooter and motorcycle parking program where certain spaces will be set aside for two-wheelers only. However, riders must pay $5/day to park there, and bikes parked on sidewalks will be ticketed. There have been numerous complaints that the city of Philadelphia is doing this simply as a revenue raiser, rather than to help scooterists, and several riders have stated that they would rather have continued under the old system and risked occasional tickets. Something to think about if riders want the city to make accomodations for scooters--it will undoubtedly come at a price.

You've got to be smart about how you park. Pick a big side street thats not near any high traffic area. Good hunting.

I hear you guys, But smart is not parking in certain zones. And more probably walking from a better zone. If I ride my scoot to midtown west I park it closer to 9 Ave. and walk over, since I know there's less foot traffic and real street parking.

All of Manhattan I've heard before is basically a no parking zone. So yeah your taking your chances every time you park. And as 2 wheels have gotten more popular our insurances have gone up, our once invisible scooter are now way on the radar. So sadly it will be tuff no matter how smart you are. But there are still thing that can be done to reduce you chance of problems. Thats all I'm saying.

Which is why I'm thinking of taking a monthly garage space in Midtown for $100.

Yeah, even though you could buy a cheap china every year with the 1200 your paying. It seem like the smarts least problematic thing to do and it's a good price. Lucky I don't work in though area, but I do put my in a garage. No worries if I'm away or windy night..etc.

+1 - $100 a month is a fantastic price.

Where can you possibly get garage space for $100 in Midtown East?!

Or are you talking about per week?

i work in chelsea market, and just saw 2 nypd tow trucks with motorcycles on back, headed for the yard. couldn't see the one in front (which had a cover half hanging off), but the one closer to me def. had plates removed.

ever since i got my sidewalk parking ticket i have (1) observed what i suspect is way more parking enforcement for scoots and motorcycles and (2) been parking legally on the street.

good luck all.

No, per month. Hippodrome Parking 44th St. Between 5th and 6th Aves. They were one of the lots Vespa partnered with for free scooter parking a couple of summers ago.

I'd pay $125, maybe even $150 a month to park in the 50s between 6th and 3rd Aves., or even in the "high 40s" like 48-49th Sts., but 44th is just a BIT too far to be called convenient...

The Edison "ParkFast" website for the Hippodrome location doesn't show this rate info, so I suppose you only found out by going there in person? Is there any survey of what garages offer m/c parking and at what rates?

(If this is something only Edison is doing, I think I'm out of luck as they don't have any garages in Manhattan farther north than the Hippodrome one except up by Inwood Hill.)
